FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I smell my candle?

This could be for a few reasons. The 7.5oz candles are meant to be lit in a small/medium sized room such as a bedroom, bathroom or office. If the space is too large, you might not be able to smell the candle.

Another reason could be that the candle doesn't have a full melt pool. You want to let the candle burn for 3-4 hours and that will melt the wax and release the fragrance into the room.

Scent is subjective! What smells strong to one person might be light to another, and vice versa. Also, some scents are meant to be lighter scents.

Finally, nose blindless. If you have the candle lit for a while and you can no longer smell it, it's most likely due to becoming used to the scent quickly. You may notice the scent more if you leave the room and come back.

Why does my candle have a lot of wax around the sides?

This is called tunneling and happens when a candle isn't burned long enough for the wax to melt fully across the top. To prevent this, allow the candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the edges of the jar (about 3-4 hours), especially during the first burn.

My wick makes a popping sound or has a high flame when I light it (or has soot!). Why?

TRIM YOUR WICK. This is a common issue when you don't trim off the carbon ball before each use. You can use a candle wick trimmer or simply pinch off the carbon ball with your fingers or a tissue and throw it in the trash. If the wick is too long and you've lit it, blow out the candle, wait for the wick to cool and trim it before lighting again.

Soot is a natural occurrence and can usually be resolved by making sure your wick is trimmed before lighting the candle before each burn.

How long will my candle last?

Burn time depends on the candle size and how often it is burned, but our 7.5oz candles burn 40+ hours when proper candle care is followed.

Why do you use soy wax instead of paraffin?

Our candles are made with soy wax, which is a plant-based wax derived from soybeans. Soy wax is popular because it comes from a renewable resource, it often burns slower than paraffin, and it produces less soot compared to traditional paraffin candles.

Paraffin wax is a petroleum byproduct that has been used in candles for many years. Both wax types are used in the industry, along with a lot of other wax blends. There is nothing wrong with using any of the waxes.

Are your candles "non-toxic"?

The term "non-toxic" is commonly used in candle marketing, but there is no official standard that defines what a "non-toxic candle" is. Our candles are made with soy wax, high-quality fragrance oils that are paraben and phthalate free, and we use cotton wicks. All candles should be burned in a well-ventilated area and according to the candle safety guidelines. You can find those guidelines on the candle product pages.

What is the difference between 1, 2 and 3 wick candles?

There is a common misconception that all candles will have the same scent power. First, paraffin candles often smell the strongest. The number of wicks in a candle helps to determine how evenly it burns and how fragrance is released throughout a space. The room size, airflow and ceiling height can influence how a candle's fragrance fills a space.

Single Wick Candles - This is what we currently sell and these are ideal for smaller spaces like bedrooms, bathrooms or offices. These candles provide a more intimate scent throw.

Double Wick Candles - These are designed for wider candle jars. They work well in medium sized bedrooms, but may be more subtle in a large open space like a kitchen or living room,

Three Wick Candles - These are best for larger spaces and open areas. Multiple wicks create a larger melt pool and help to distribute the fragrance more strongly throughout the room.

Why did my bath crayons break or soften?

Bath crayons are designed for drawing during bath time but should NOT be left sitting in water for long periods. Prolonged soaking can soften the crayon and cause it to break apart. For best results, allow the crayon to dry between uses and store it out of standing water. If the crayon does break apart, simply wipe up any pieces and throw them into the trash.

Why won't the bath crayons write on a very wet surface?

Bath crayons are made with wax-based ingredients that work best on smooth tub or tile surfaces that are dry or slightly damp. If the surface is covered with water, the crayon may slide instead of leaving color. For best results, draw on the tub wall before the bath walls get splashed on or after wiping a small area dry.

Can bath crayons stain surfaces?

They are designed to wash off smooth tub surfaces. However, because tubs and materials vary, we recommend testing on a small area first, especially on older tubs or porous surfaces. We always recommend avoiding grout or any other porous surface.

How do I clean the drawings off?

The drawings can simply be wiped away with a damp cloth or sponge!

Why didn't my bubble scoop make bubbles?

Bubble scoops are NOT like bath bombs. You need to put the bubble scoop in the provided mesh bag (or in a strainer) and put it under running water. We also recommend breaking the scoop into pieces and putting it into the bag. You should also agitate the water, just like you would any other bubble bath.

Are bubble scoops and bath bombs safe for sensitive skin?

Our bubble scoops and bath bombs are made with bath-safe ingredients that are commonly used in bath and body products. We always recommend discontinuing use if irritation occurs.

Will bubble scoops color the bath water?

Some scents may lightly tint the water, but they are formulated not to stain tubs when used as directed.

Why doesn't the shampoo bar lather like my liquid shampoo?

Shampoo bars often produce less lather because they lack the high concentrations of harsh, foaming chemicals like SLS, which is found in liquid shampoos.
